After a 35-year career working for a variety of organizations, I have started my own business to work with executive teams, individual executives, and aspiring leaders to help them achieve success.
Early in life I served as a junior officer onboard the USS Bergall (SSN-667), a nuclear-powered fast attack submarine. Leadership lessons came fast and furious in these formative years. I later worked for the largest utility company in North Carolina where I qualified as a senior reactor operator at one of its nuclear power plants. My 25+ years in the pharmaceutical industry included several roles for consulting companies as well as Eli Lilly and Co. My last 15 years were spent in a variety of executive roles that included Operations, Marketing, Strategy, Finance, and HR. During this time, I also served 8 years on a board of directors for a 20,000-member professional society. I later was hired by this same organization to be the interim CEO (a six-month tenure that saw the Covid-19 pandemic drastically change the operating model for the organization).
I am a graduate of North Carolina State University (B.S. Mech Eng.), a licensed professional engineer in North Carolina and a Certified Pharmaceutical Professional. I graduated from Georgetown's Institute of Transformational Leadership with a Certificate in Executive Leadership Coaching and am credentialed by the International Coaching Federation as an Associate Certified Coach.
Work Life Balance
Many have commented this is their favorite picture of me, so I share with you as evidence that I do know how to "unwind." - taken pool side by my wife in Belize
While I am very passionate about the work I do, I also like to have a good time when away from work.
I am happily married for 27+ years and have two successful adult children. In my spare time I enjoy golf, cooking, watching sports of most any type, traveling and walking my dogs.
I don't consider myself a foodie, but I do enjoy a good meal and nice wine pairing.
I'm certified to pour a proper pint of Guinness, have completed basic SCUBA training, have recorded one "hole-in-one" (working hard on #2), and have traveled to five continents.
